# Deactivate a Sales Engagement Cadence

When you’re ready to update your sales outreach patterns, you can replace older cadences with new ones. Deactivating a cadence prevents further use, preserves cadence data, and avoids confusion with newer cadences. Existing targets in a deactivated cadence continue until completion.
