Make sure that you [allow the necessary network access](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.aac_setup_allow_access.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "When setting up Einstein Activity Capture with a Microsoft Exchange on-premises server (2019, 2016, or 2013) or Microsoft Office 365, make sure that you allow the necessary network access.").

You can't set up Einstein Activity Capture with Microsoft Exchange on-premises in Starter Suite and Pro Suite editions.

1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Einstein Activity Capture, and then select **Settings**.

If it’s your first time setting up Einstein Activity Capture, the setup flow guides you through the steps. If you already set up Einstein Activity Capture and want to change the authentication method, reset Einstein Activity Capture.
2. Select **Microsoft Exchange** as the email and calendar app.
3. Select **User-Level Auth** as your authentication method.
4. Follow the remaining Einstein Activity Capture setup steps, including [creating a configuration and adding users to it](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.aac_setup_create_configuration.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Configurations determine which data gets captured and how it flows between Salesforce and your connected account. You create one configuration during the initial setup and you can add more to customize data capture and sync behavior for specific users or profiles. By default, Einstein Activity Capture syncs events and contacts bi-directionally, though you can edit these settings at any time.").

Salesforce prompts users to connect their Microsoft Office 365 account to Salesforce. Until they do, they can’t send emails in Lightning Experience.
