1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Lead Settings, and then select **Lead Settings**. Then, click **Edit**.
2. Select a default lead owner.

To email the default lead owner when they receive a lead, select **Notify Default Lead Owner**.
3. Define your lead conversion settings.

Users who convert leads become the new lead owner. To prevent the **Lead Status** value from changing to the new owner's default value, select **Preserve Lead Status**.

If you select **Relate Emails to Contacts Upon Lead Conversion**, the emails of the lead that's being converted to a contact are associated with the contact. If you use customized workflows, validations, or triggers, test the setting to make sure it's compatible with your automations.
4. Define your lead merge and lead email notification settings.
5. Define your LinkedIn Lead Gen settings.

If you plan to use LinkedIn as a source of leads, select **Use LinkedIn Lead Sync APIs with Lead Forms**. After turning on the setting, complete the additional configuration required.

See [Generate Leads from LinkedIn Lead Gen Ads](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.leads_linkedin_lead_gen.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Add another source of leads for your sales team by connecting LinkedIn Lead Gen advertisements to Salesforce. When prospective customers fill out a form on your LinkedIn ad, we convert the data directly to new leads in Salesforce.").
6. Save your settings.
