1. Set up your lead fields.

Create custom lead fields that track information specific to your company. Then, map them to account, contact, and opportunity fields so that the data carries over when users convert leads. You can also modify some standard fields. For example, edit the Lead Status field to change the default status for new and converted leads.

See [Create a Custom Field](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.adding_fields.htm&language=en_US) and [Map Custom Lead Fields for Lead Conversion](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.customize_mapleads.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Get the most out of records created from converted leads when you map custom lead fields to fields on the records they’re converted to. Using custom fields can provide more context about the opportunity, and provide ways to highlight records for use in flows and other means.").
2. Specify your default lead settings.

See [Define Default Settings for Lead Creation](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.customize_leadsettings.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Specify default lead behavior for your org so that your sales teams can nurture leads efficiently.").
3. Create sales queues for leads or custom objects.

    See [Set Up Queues](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.queues_overview.htm&language=en_US).
4. Set up lead assignment rules to assign leads automatically.

    See [Set Up Assignment Rules](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.creating_assignment_rules.htm&language=en_US).
5. Assign permissions to your marketing and sales operations teams so that they can view and edit converted leads.

See [Let Users View and Edit Converted Leads](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.leads_view_edit_converted.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Assign the View and Edit Converted Leads permission to the marketing and sales operations users who need to view and edit converted leads.").
6. (Optional) Set up Web-to-Lead to capture leads from your website automatically.

See [Generate Leads from Your Website with Web-to-Lead](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.setting_up_web-to-lead.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Generate up to 500 leads per day by capturing data from prospects who provide contact information. You can also redirect prospects to other web pages that are critical to campaign success.").
7. (Optional) Connect LinkedIn Lead Gen advertisements to Salesforce to capture leads from LinkedIn.

See [Generate Leads from LinkedIn Lead Gen Ads](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.leads_linkedin_lead_gen.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Add another source of leads for your sales team by connecting LinkedIn Lead Gen advertisements to Salesforce. When prospective customers fill out a form on your LinkedIn ad, we convert the data directly to new leads in Salesforce.").
8. (Optional) Set up Lead Intelligence View to give users a more comprehensive view of their leads.

From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Lead Intelligence View Setup, and then select **Lead Intelligence View Setup**. Then, complete the steps.
