Before you can use Account Research, [Set up Einstein Generative AI](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ai.generative_ai_enable.htm&language=en_US). Optionally, [Turn on Sales Account Plans](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.account_plans_setup.htm&language=en_US). Then, turn on Account Research in Setup.

To create a custom record research prompt template for Account Research, start from an existing record research prompt template. Then, save it as a new prompt template with your specific customizations. For example, update the model or the data source used to conduct research. Or, research a new area, and store the results in a different field.

Important If you create a new custom record research prompt template in Prompt Builder rather than cloning an existing one, always select Account as the object to research. You can map the results of the research to a standard or custom field on either Account or on Account Plan.

You can store Account Research results in standard fields and in custom fields. When customizing Account Research with Prompt Builder, map research results to these field types.

- `Text`
- `Text Area`
- `Text Area (Encrypted)`
- `Text Area (Long)`
- `Text Area (Rich)`

In this example, we’re creating a custom record research prompt template to research challenges in a customer’s company landscape. It then stores the research results on a standard field on Account Plan. Refine the example to meet your specific needs.

Note To modify a standard research record prompt template without changing the field where it stores the research, deactivate the existing prompt template before saving as new.

1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Prompt Builder, and then select **Prompt Builder**.
2. In the list of prompt templates, select a prompt template with the Record Research template type.

For this example, select the Research Company Strategic Priorities prompt template.
3. In the Prompt Template Workspace, click **Save as New Template**.
    1. Specify a Prompt Template Name.

In this example, name it Research Custom Customer Landscape Challenges.
    2. Make sure that the API name is unique.
    3. Optionally, write a description for your prompt template.
4. Click **Save As**.

You’re directed to the Prompt Template Workspace.
5. Replace the instructions with your custom instructions.

In this example, replace the first research instruction, leaving the data source and other prompt information as-is.

    Specifically, remove this text.

`Your goal is to write a concise, professional HTML-formatted summary of the company's top strategic initiatives for the current and coming year. Use the provided search results below as supporting evidence and summarize the most relevant insights clearly and factually.`

And replace it with this text.

`Conduct a thorough analysis of the company's customer landscape to identify and describe the primary challenges they face. Describe the main weaknesses or vulnerabilities the company faces in its current market landscape. Focus on internal or market-based challenges. Focus on areas where the company may be underperforming or encountering difficulties in meeting customer expectations and needs. Consider aspects such as customer satisfaction, support effectiveness, product/service quality, customer retention, market position, and communication practices. Highlight specific issues, trends, and patterns that indicate potential areas for improvement.`
6. Update the `fieldName` values at the end of the Output Requirements section and in the Rules section.

For this example, replace `AccountPlan.AccountStrategicPriorities` with `AccountPlan.AccountChallenges` in both sections.

    ![Note](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-sales-sales_core-264-0-0-production-enus/3c339c40-ca6c-49ba-9c6e-684be7a55f80/images/icon_note.png)

Note Map only one prompt template per field. If you map more than one prompt template to a field, you see an error when trying to update the field with the research. You can still generate research, but you can’t update the corresponding field.
7. Preview your prompt template and view the LLM’s response.
    1. Click **Save** .
    2. Under Inputs, search for and select a record.
    3. Click **Preview** and review the response.

If you prefer a different response, adjust the instructions in step 5, and repeat step 7.
8. When you’re satisfied with the result, activate the prompt template.

Now, when you visit the Account Research Lightning component, you see your custom prompt template listed in the research area dropdown.
