Protect Customer Data Throughout Your Backup History with Data Privacy Requests

Anonymize or correct personally identifiable information across every backed-up instance of a customer record in Backup & Recover Next. Create a single request for a record instead of finding and changing each historical instance separately. Apply your company’s privacy policies consistently to backed-up data while supporting right-to-be-forgotten and right-to-rectification requests.

Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

When: This functionality is available starting in September 2026.

Who: To create a data privacy request, you need the Submit Data Privacy Requests permission. To view existing requests, you need the View Data Privacy Requests permission. To cancel a request before it's committed, you need the Cancel Pending Data Privacy Requests permission.

How: In Backup & Recover Next, go to the Settings tab, select Data Privacy, and create a request. Upload a CSV file containing the records and fields that you want to anonymize or correct. Each file can contain up to 50,000 rows, including the header row.

Backup & Recover Next validates the file before submission. If the file contains invalid values or doesn’t meet the file requirements, an error message explains what to correct. Requests take 48 hours to be committed. You can cancel a request before it’s committed, but you can’t cancel it afterward.
