With Salesforce in Claude, you can now create and update Salesforce records directly from Claude with the same field-level validation rules enforced in Lightning Experience. Previously, all Salesforce in Claude activity was read-only or created drafts for manual review.
Where: This change applies to Salesforce data accessed through Claude from Lightning Experience, Salesforce Classic, and the Salesforce mobile app, in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions. Requires Claude Enterprise.
When: This change begins rolling out the week of October 12, 2026.
How: To take advantage of this new functionality, the Salesforce MCP server's Dispatch API setting must be set to Needs Approval (recommended) or Always Allowed. If Dispatch API is set to Deny, users can’t create or update records. For more information, see Set Tool Restrictions for the Salesforce MCP Server.
Record saves via Salesforce in Claude adhere to the same required-field and read-only-field validation rules enforced in Lightning Experience. Saving a record is prevented only when the same save would be blocked for a user editing directly in Lightning.
During this beta, Salesforce in Claude can create and update records for these objects:
- Account
- Account Plan
- Contact
- Event
- Lead
- Opportunity
- Opportunity Product
- Task
- Custom objects
Objects that use Lightning web component overrides or Visualforce action overrides aren't supported.
Many skills in Salesforce in Claude remain read-only or draft-only, keeping you in full control before any data changes. However, these skills now support creating and updating records directly. Claude automatically matches your request to the right skill.
- Assign Contacts and Leads to an Agent (assign-target-to-sdr)
- Build Account Plans (account-plan)
- Log Customer Activity (log-activity)
