Upgrade Microsoft® Exchange Web Services to Microsoft® Graph in Lightning Sync Before October 2026
Microsoft announced the retirement of Exchange Web Services (EWS) for Microsoft Office 365 starting October 2026. Lightning Sync configurations that use EWS won’t capture or sync data after this retirement. To avoid service disruption, upgrade to the Microsoft Graph authentication method in Lightning Sync setup now.
Where: Lightning Sync is available in Lightning Experience in Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.
Who: This change affects Lightning Sync configurations that use org-wide OAuth 2.0 with EWS to connect to Microsoft Office 365 or Microsoft Exchange Service Account.
How: From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter and select Outlook Integration And Sync. Follow the process to complete the upgrade.
When you’re done, you can continue to use Lightning Sync, but we recommend migrating to Einstein Activity Capture. Lightning Sync is scheduled to retire in 2027.
