Use the dx-pkg-post-install-configure AI Skill to automate post-install configuration for any Salesforce managed package directly from your AI coding client. AI Skills are packaged instruction sets that give AI coding clients specialized knowledge for building on the Salesforce platform. After you install a package, describe your setup task in plain language, and the skill handles the configuration for you.
Where: This change applies to first-generation managed packaging, second-generation managed packaging, and unlocked packages.
Why: With the dx-pkg-post-install-configure skill, you can configure an installed package's settings. All settings that can be updated through Salesforce-hosted Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers are supported. Some examples of supported post-install settings include:
- Permission sets
- Object or field permissions
- Page layouts
- Visualforce page access
- Tab settings
How: AI Skills are available from the forcedotcom/sf-skills repository on GitHub. Add the skill to your AI coding client, and then describe your task in natural language. For example, to configure a package after installation, write a request like “I've installed a managed package called ExamplePackage (namespace ExampleNamespace). Run the post-install setup for me.”
