# New Connect REST APIs in Manufacturing

Do more with the new Connect REST API resources available in Manufacturing.

Flatten account hierarchies to speed up reporting and analytics

Turn multi-level account hierarchy trees into flat records with the Flatten Account Internal Organization Unit Hierarchy API. It eliminates the need to add parent-child links every time you run a report. This API pre-computes each account's full lineage and stores it in one row. The reports and dashboards can now filter by any level of the hierarchy with a single indexed lookup.

This change applies to Manufacturing Cloud in Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions.

Retail organizations structure accounts as hierarchies that enable them to have a global headquarters rolling down through regions to individual stores. Without flattening, answering "which stores belong to this region?" requires walking the hierarchy tree link-by-link at query time, thereby slowing down reports and analytics. The flattened hierarchy stores each account's complete ancestor chain (up to 15 levels) in columns AccountLevel01 through AccountLevel15, alongside two role flags, IsStoreRole and IsPromotionRole. These role flags identify whether the account is a retail store or promotion participant. Reports can filter on any ancestor level instantly, without joins or recursive queries.

Call the Flatten Account Internal Organization Unit Hierarchy Connect API with an internal organization unit ID and a list of up to 2,000 account IDs. The API computes the ancestor chain for each account within that internal organization unit, compares the result against existing flattened records, and upserts only what has changed. Accounts not in the specified business unit are returned as failed records. The process inserts new records and updates modified records but never deletes existing rows.
