# Reduce Event Consumption with Smarter Loyalty Transaction Journal Creation

Configure Loyalty Management to create transaction journals during real-time processing only when transactions result in record changes or meet promotion requirements. This optimization applies only to real-time processing via the Transaction Journals Execution API, with no impact on batch processing.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions with Loyalty Management.

**Why:** Loyalty Management creates transaction journals during real-time processing only when a loyalty program process performs one of these actions.

- Credit or debit points
- Issue or redeem vouchers
- Assign badge
- Issue game rewards
- Change member tier
- Update member attribute values
    
    Loyalty Management tracks member attribute values by using engagement attributes or promotion party usage records.
- Create, update, or delete records
- Send email
- Run flow
- Run program process

**How:** In Setup, find and select **Loyalty Management Settings**. Turn on **Transaction Journal Creation for Reward or Write Activities Only**.
