# Make Inline Editing in List Views More Flexible

Two User Interface Settings give you more control over how users make inline edits in list views. Users can make inline edits to any field that they have edit access to, whether the field is included in the page layout or not. You can also allow inline editing in list views that contain multiple record types. Without these settings, page layout restrictions apply and inline editing is unavailable when a list view contains records of more than one type.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions. Inline editing list views with multiple record types applies to list views rendered with Lightning Web Components (LWC).

**How:** From Setup, use the Quick Find box to find and select **User Interface Settings**. So that users can edit any field they have edit access to, regardless of page layout restrictions, select **Remove list view inline edit dependencies on page layout**. So that users can inline edit when a list view contains records of more than one record type, select **Make inline edits in list views with multiple record types**. Both settings are optional and off by default.
