# Extend Notifications to Custom Objects and Related Records

Keep your teams informed about changes to the records and relationships that matter to how they work. Send notifications for custom objects and not just a fixed set of standard objects, so activity on the objects your processes depend on no longer goes unnoticed. You can also notify on changes to related child records with triggers for when a parent record is updated, or a child record is associated or disassociated.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions with the Multi-Channel Notification add-on license.

**Who:** To configure notifications, you need the Notifications Designer permission set.

**How:** From Setup, enter and select **Multi-channel Notifications**, and then click **New**. To notify on a custom object, publish it in Object Manager, and then select it in the Reference Object field. To notify on a related child record, set the Usage Type field to **Related Object**, and then select the related object.
