Process hardware returns for departing employees with a single action. Asset managers can initiate bulk reclamation from an employee record, multi-select employees from a list view, or upload a CSV file for asynchronous batch processing. Employees receive one consolidated email detailing all assets requiring return, instead of separate notifications for each device.
Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions with the IT Service add-on.
Who: To run list view or CSV-based offboarding, you need the Hardware Asset Management - Asset Manager permission.
Why: Offboarding employees with assets like laptops, monitors, and phones previously required separate reclaim processes. These separate processes created administrative overhead and confused employees with multiple return notifications. Bulk reclamation generates one parent service request per batch. It creates one child service request and return order per employee, listing assets as line items. Employees receive one consolidated email with all assets requiring return and a link to select their return method and confirm shipping or drop-off details. The batch processing architecture handles large offboarding events of 100 or more employees without triggering the system limits that previously caused timeouts.
