# Price Group Benefits Quotes and Policies with an External Rating Engine

Calculate group benefit premiums with a member-level breakdown during quoting and policy lifecycle management by using an external rating engine. Reuse the existing rating engine or configuration in your external systems without rebuilding that logic in Salesforce. After the external rating engine returns the calculated premium, taxes and fees are calculated based on the product surcharge configuration.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise and Unlimited editions with Digital Insurance.

**How:** Use the external pricing flow on the product to send member and plan information to the external rating engine. Connect it with a named credential. Configure the flow to send member and plan configuration to the external rating engine and return the premiums to the members and their plans.
