Improve developer efficiency by creating your own reusable code with extensions or use the label extension to retrieve custom labels. Attach per-request headers to your GraphQL calls, localize your app using the i18n module, and manage the host UI from your app.
Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, Developer, and Partner Developer editions hosted on Hyperforce.
When: This change is available starting in September 2026.
How: Enhance developer efficiency through several key updates for the Data SDK.
- Extend the Data SDK with Reusable Capabilities
- Package your own data logic as extensions and attach them to a Data SDK instance, so you
can call shared operations through a typed
sdk.ext.<name>namespace instead of duplicating code across bundles. Author an extension withdefineDataExtension, then pass it tocreateDataSDK. You can use the out of the box labels extension to retrieve custom labels by namespace and locale. You can also specify a minimum Salesforce API version on an extension so that it attaches only where the data it needs exists. - Attach Per-Request Headers to GraphQL Queries and Mutation
- Pass a
headersoption on individual GraphQL queries and mutations to send request-specific context without creating a separate SDK instance. This option factor into the cache key. Requests that carry different headers resolve to separate cache entries and don't return each other's cached responses. Use per-request headers to vary behavior call by call while a single Data SDK instance serves your whole bundle. - Identify the Running App with
getCurrentApp() - Call
getCurrentApp()to read the identity of the running app, including its namespace, app name, and qualified name. App identity resolves on both web apps and micro-frontends. For example, you can scope a call to your app when you're running a CMS search. Use the identity to branch behavior, scope requests, or log the host app your code runs inside. - Localize Dates, Numbers, and Currency with Locale-Aware Formatters
- Match your app's dates, numbers, and currency to each user's Salesforce locale by using
the localization APIs in the
@salesforce/platform-sdk/i18nmodule. Fetch the running user's language, locale, currency, and time zone withfetchI18nContext, then create formatters withcreateI18nFormattersto render dates, numbers, and currency based on the user's locale. Your app fetches labels at runtime using the GraphQL API via the Data SDK and passes them to your frameworkâs i18n library to render. - Manage the Host UI from Your App
- Coordinate with the application that embeds your bundle by using
createViewSDKor the sharedgetViewSDK. You can display alerts, toasts, and modals, read and subscribe to the host UI state and theme, exchange events with the host and so on. Use optional chaining (viewSDK.displayToast?.(...)) to account for top-level web apps without a UI host where the SDK returns an empty instance.
