Connect AI Assistants to Salesforce CMS with the Content Read-Only and Content Write MCP Servers (Generally Available)
The Content Read-Only MCP server, now generally available, and the Content Write MCP server are Salesforce Hosted MCP Servers that enable AI assistants to connect to Salesforce CMS. Since the beta release, the Content Read-Only server has added 18 tools to access many types of CMS content and resources. Previously, it had only 3 tools that searched only for image and brand content. The new Content Write server provides 15 tools to create and manage enhanced CMS workspaces, content, variants, folders, and channels.
Where: These features are available in Lightning Experience in Developer Edition, scratch orgs, and sandboxes.
Why: The Content Read-Only server now has 21 tools. In addition to searching for image and brand content, these tools can:
- Look up enhanced CMS workspaces, folders, and channels
- Search for and retrieve draft or published CMS content
- Search for and retrieve media content with semantic search
How: To use the Content Read-Only and Content Write MCP servers, first set up the Salesforce Hosted MCP Server.
Then, from Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter MCP and select
MCP Servers. Find and select the content-readonly and
content-write MCP servers, and click Activate.
Currently, Agentforce Vibes is the only supported MCP client for these servers.
