Use natural language prompts to develop Salesforce apps with the Salesforce Development plugin for Claude Code. The plugin detects your Salesforce DX project environment and provides Salesforce-specific skills and org context through hosted Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. You get AI-powered assistance to build, update, and maintain apps efficiently and quickly.
Where: The Salesforce Development Claude Code plugin is available from the Claude Plugin Marketplace. The plugin works in any Claude Code platform that can access your Salesforce DX project, as the CLI (terminal), Desktop, VS Code, and JetBrains IDEs.
How: First install the prerequisite software on your computer. Then open Claude Code and run these commands to install the plugin and ensure it's activated:
/plugin install salesforce-development@claude-plugins-official
/reload-plugins
Run this command to read the Salesforce Development Welcome page that shows useful information about your environment and tips on what to do next:
/salesforce-development:welcome
Your next steps depend on whether you're an experienced or new Salesforce developer.
If you're an experienced Salesforce developer and have a DX project with metadata and code, open the DX project and enter natural language prompts in Claude Code to continue developing. Here are some sample prompts:
- Create an Apex service class to handle Account territory assignments.
- Generate a custom object called Project with fields for Name, Status, Due Date, and Owner.
- Deploy the current changes to my sandbox.
- Write a test class for AccountTerritoryService and run it.
If you're a new Salesforce developer, run this prompt to get started:
- Let's build something in Salesforce.
Claude shows basic information about Salesforce development and suggests initial prompts. For example, you can start with:
- Create a DX project called my-project.
Claude creates the project and tells you what to do next, such as authorizing and connecting an org. Try these prompts if you get stuck:
- What do I do now?
- What's the status?
What you do next depends on what you want to build: a custom object, an Apex class, a Lightning Web Component (LWC), or any other Salesforce customization. Simply enter a prompt and Claude Code handles the rest.
