# Data Processing Engine

Control how currency values behave with multiple currencies so your calculations stay consistent and business-aligned. Run definitions faster, track partial failures, and protect active definition runs from interruption. Decide whether parent records count toward rollup totals, and keep layered calculations together in one place.

- **[Control Currency Handling for Data Processing Engine Definitions](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_dpe_currency_conversion.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Choose how Data Processing Engine (DPE) handles currency fields with multiple currencies for definitions that run on CRM Analytics or Data 360. Convert all currency values to a single currency for consistent calculations or keep each amount in its original currency to apply custom conversion logic. Previously, the two DPE runtimes handled currency differently. The CRM Analytics runtime converted currency fields to the integration user's currency, and the Data 360 runtime kept currency fields in their original currency with no way to select a target currency. This currency setting is available only in orgs with multiple currencies enabled.
- **[Reliability Changes in Data Processing Engine](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_dpe_other_improvements.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Run Data Processing Engine (DPE) definitions faster and with greater data integrity from data sources such as Data 360 objects, Salesforce objects, and CSV files. Track runs that finish with partial failures. In Monitor Workflow Services, a definition run and its tasks show the Completed with Failures status when a run finishes but contains unprocessed or failed records, such as a data sync that completes with record-level failures. Prevent the deactivation of active runs. You can’t deactivate a definition while a run is in progress.
- **[Roll Up Only the Lowest-Tier Values in Hierarchy Nodes](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_dpe_exclude_parent_value.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Choose whether a parent record's value counts toward its hierarchical rollup total in on-demand definitions. Exclude parent record values so that an aggregate field rolls up only the lowest-tier values from records with no children. Use this option when only the lowest-level records carry the values you want to combine across varying hierarchy depths. Previously, a hierarchical aggregate always included every record's own value.
- **[Simplify Definitions with Multiple Formulas in a Single Node](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_dpe_formula_sequencing.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Sequence formulas within a single formula node to use prior calculation results and keep related logic together. Create definitions easily with complex formulas and layered calculations.
- **[Send Data Transformation Results to Virtual Objects](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_dpe_virtual_entity_writeback.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Save the output of CRM Analytics or Data 360 runtime definitions to Apache HBase-backed virtual objects and view records in your Salesforce org. Previously, you could write back target data only to standard and custom objects.
