# Test Inactive Retrievers and Versions in Retriever Playground

Test inactive retrievers and retriever versions in Retriever Playground without activating them first. Previously, you ran tests only against active retrievers. Select a version to evaluate, run test queries, and refine retrieval before activating a version for production. View retriever metrics in card or table view.

**Where:** This change applies to Data 360 in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

**When:** This feature is available starting in October 2026.

**How:** From the AI Models **Retrieve** option, select an inactive retriever or version and select **Test**. Select a test mode, modify the retriever configuration, enter a test question, and review the results.
