Business Rules Engine

Run expression sets and decision tables as actions in Agentforce. Use the List Branch element to build if-then-else rule conditions on list data in context-aware expression sets. Process multiple decision table outcomes in standard expression sets, even without Context Service. Select picklist values from a dropdown instead of typing them in expression set conditions. Call decision tables directly from Omniscripts. Speed up decision table refreshes with parallel processing and automatic incremental refreshes. Use more data types and manage null values and empty cells in CSV-based decision tables, and see each table's status from the list view.

  • Run Business Rules Engine Logic in Agentforce
Connect your activated expression sets and decision tables as reference actions in Agentforce so your agents can run eligibility checks, calculations, and other business logic during conversations. In Agentforce Studio, add an expression set or decision table as an API reference action, map its inputs and outputs, and give the agent instructions on when to invoke it. With Business Rules Engine actions in Agentforce, your agents can give consistent, rule based answers during a live conversation without waiting for a handoff.
  • Use the Branch Element in Context-Aware Expression Sets
In an expression set that uses a context definition, add the List Branch element to build if-then-else rule conditions directly on list data. Each incoming list item is processed by the first branch whose condition it satisfies.
  • Process Multiple Outcomes from Decision Tables in Expression Sets
Use decision tables that return multiple outputs from a single input in standard expression sets, even in orgs that don't use Context Service. Previously, only expression sets built on a context definition could process more than one matching result from a decision table lookup.
  • Reduce Errors in Expression Set Conditions with Picklist Value Suggestions
Select from a dropdown of valid values in the Expression Set Builder when you write a List Filter condition on a picklist-type context variable instead of manually entering it. Use type-ahead search to quickly find a value in a long list, and get an immediate warning if you enter values that the picklist doesn't allow.
  • Call Decision Tables from Omniscripts
Call an activated decision table directly from an Omniscript without Apex controllers or manual workarounds.
  • Speed Up Decision Table Refreshes with Parallel Processing and Automatic Incremental Refreshes
After the full refresh completes on the first activation, decision table refreshes now default to processing only what changed instead of reprocessing the entire dataset. Also multiple tables can refresh at the same time instead of queuing one behind another.
  • Use More Data Types in CSV-Based Decision Tables
CSV-based decision tables now support Percentage, Currency, and Date/Time columns.
  • Manage Null Values in CSV-Based Decision Tables
Decision tables that use a CSV file store empty cells as null values. If you add the literal string "null", it's treated as invalid. For boolean columns, empty cells default to false. If you have existing CSV files with empty strings that you didn't intend as null values, update the CSV file to reflect your intended behavior.
  • See Decision Table Status at a Glance from the List View
The Decision Table list view now includes a Status column showing whether tables are active or inactive, so you can check a table's state without opening its detail page. Sort by status to quickly find inactive tables that need attention.
