# Automation

Compose intelligent workflows with Flow Builder, Flow Approval Processes, and Flow Orchestration. Automate cross-departmental and industry-specific processes with Automation for Customer 360 Apps and Industries.

- **[Flow Builder](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_automate_flow.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Experience Flow Builder in the modern Salesforce Cosmos theme. Process multiple records with screen flows from list views and related lists. Capture time values with the new Time screen component. Trigger order confirmation flows faster with a REST API. Manage Marketing Object records directly in flows. Debug and save reusable test scenarios in the new Flow Test Mode (beta). Test flows in isolation with mock outputs for Action and Subflow elements.
- **[Flow Approval Processes](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_automate_automated_approvals.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Use the new Request Approvals component to add up to 10 flow approval processes to a record page. Delete approval submission records to meet GDPR and other compliance requirements. This release also includes performance improvements and new configuration options for the Orchestration Work Guide.
- **[Flow Orchestration](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_automate_orchestrator.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Configure the Orchestration Work Guide to keep users focused on completing work items from the same orchestration run. Orchestration runs are now faster and more responsive with automatic performance improvements.
- **[MuleSoft for Flow: Integration](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_automate_flow_mfi_simplify_integration.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
MuleSoft for Flow: Integration is a no-code solution that connects your flows to external systems that use third-party connectors. Use these connectors as triggers or actions to automatically exchange data and information between systems.
- **[MuleSoft for Flow: IDP](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_automate_flow_mulesoft_for_flow_idp.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Let a human verify and correct extracted document data before your flow continues, without orchestrating multiple flows.
- **[Automation for Customer 360 Apps and Industries](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_automate_apps_industries.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Streamline and automate end-to-end processes for your sales, service, marketing, commerce, and revenue teams, and industry-specific workflows.

## Automation Release Note Changes by Month

We made these additions and changes to published release notes.

### October 2026

- **Flow Builder**: [Find a Record in a Collection Without Loop Elements](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_automate_flow_collection_filter_criteria.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Get the record that you need from a collection without looping. Create a Collection Filter Criteria resource with filter and sort criteria for your record collection. The resource returns the first matching record when other elements reference it. If you're working with records that contain related records, such as an Apex-defined data type, you can also filter on child relationships. You can use criteria on child records to filter the parent record. Previously, isolating a record from a collection in an autolaunched or screen flow meant chaining loop, decision, and assignment elements together.") (Updated the week of October 26)
    - Changed the title from Filter Collections Without Loop Elements to Find a Record in a Collection Without Loop Elements.
    - Corrected to state that the resource returns a single record, not a collection.
- **Flow Approval Processes**: [Delete Approval Submission Records to Meet GDPR Requirements](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_automate_automated_approvals__approval_record_deletion_gdpr.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Fulfill GDPR and other compliance requests to delete customer data relating to approvals. When you delete a parent record, Salesforce deletes related approval submissions in a terminal state and cancels in-progress ones. You can then delete the canceled approval submissions related to the deleted parent record.") (Updated the week of October 19)
    - Updated to clarify what's automatically deleted with the parent record and what's canceled by a scheduled job.
- **Flow Builder**: [Build Flows Through Conversation with Flow Author (Beta)](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_automate_flow_builder_flow_author_264.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Describe what you want your flow to do, and Flow Author generates a deployable flow based on your confirmed intent. Flow Author supports autolaunched, record-triggered, schedule-triggered, and screen flows.") (Added the week of October 12, 2026)
- **Flow Builder**: [Reduce Flow Failures Caused by Record Lock Contention](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_automate_flow_builder_catch_field_size_violations_264.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Avoid run-time failures by validating field length constraints when you design and save a flow. If a Create Record or Update Record element sets a record field to a text value that's too long, Flow Builder shows a warning. By identifying the specific field and the value that exceeds the limit, this validation helps you catch configuration errors before they cause run-time failures.") (Updated the week of October 12, 2026)
    - Corrected to state that Create Records and Update Records elements are affected, not Assignment elements.
- **Omnistudio**: [Control Which Objects Guest and Community Users Can Query in Omnistudio](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_flexcard_datasource_allowlist.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Protect your org data by specifying which objects Experience Cloud guest users and authenticated community or portal users can query through Omnistudio. Omnistudio now blocks SOQL queries and SOSL searches that external users run through the HandleData() and HandleDataCards() methods unless every object in the query is on an allowlist that you maintain. Allowed queries run in user mode, so the user's object permissions, field-level security, and sharing rules apply.") (Added the week of October 12, 2026)
- **Flow Builder**: [Reduce Flow Failures Caused by Record Lock Contention](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_automate_flow_builder_row_lock_retry_264.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Flows automatically try again when they encounter a record lock error during transaction initialization. When multiple processes try to update the same record simultaneously, the flow waits 10 seconds and makes one more try. This delay gives the other process time to complete and release the lock. This change applies to schedule-triggered flows with run-time API version 62.0 or lesser.") (Updated the week of October 12, 2026)
    - Updated to clarify which flows this change affects and the number of retries made.
- **MuleSoft for Flow: Integration**: [Enhance Data Exchange with Newly Added Third-Party Connectors](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_automate_flow_mfi_enhance_data_exchange_with_third_party_connectors.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Use these newly added third-party connectors in flows for no-code connectivity to external systems and to facilitate data and information exchange between different systems.") - Updated to include four new connectors.
- **Flow Approval Processes**: [See New and Outdated Approval Work Items Without a Manual Refresh](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_automate_automated_approvals_orchestration_work_guide_refreshes.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "The Orchestration Work Guide component automatically shows the status of your approval work items as they change. New work items get a New badge. Work items that someone else completed are disabled and have an Outdated badge instead of disappearing from the list. Badges and completed work items remain until you leave the page or manually refresh it.") (Added the week of October 5, 2026)
- **Flow Orchestration**: [See New and Outdated Orchestration Work Items Without a Manual Refresh](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_automate_orchestrator_work_guide_refreshes.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "The Orchestration Work Guide component automatically shows the status of your orchestration work items as they change. New work items get a New badge. Work items that someone else completed are disabled and have an Outdated badge instead of disappearing from the list. Badges and completed work items remain until you leave the page or manually refresh it.") (Added the week of October 5, 2026)
- **AI Relationship Research**: [Get AI Relationship Research Insights Directly in Your Agentforce Conversations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_airr_get_insights_agentforce.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Ask the Agentforce AI Relationship Research agent for insights about an account or contact and see the key people and companies connected to that record without leaving the conversation. The AI Relationship Research Agent identifies the relevant record, surfaces the key people and companies connected to it, explains each relationship, and provides supporting evidence. It also turns those connections into actionable insights, recommending who to engage and the best path to reach them.") (Added the week of October 5, 2026)
- **Screen Flows**: [Evaluate Conditional Visibility Rules with Reactive Formulas](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_automate_flow_screen_reactive_formulas_visibility_264.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Reference reactive formulas directly in conditional visibility rules for flow screens. Suspending and resuming gives you greater control over in-progress approval submissions. The Debug action provides run-specific diagnostic information for in-progress, suspended, and errored approval submissions.") (Added the week of October 5, 2026)
- **Flow Builder**: [Filter Records by Multi-Select Picklist Fields with the Contains Operator](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_automate_flow_builder_contains_with_multiselect_picklist.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "The Contains operator on multi-select picklist fields now works in Get Records, Delete Records, Update Records, and schedule-triggered flow entry criteria. Previously, when you used the operator with a multi-select picklist field in these elements, it caused a run-time error.") (Added the week of October 5, 2026)
- **Flow Builder**: [Build Flows Faster with Auto-Generated Element Labels](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_automate_flow_builder_auto_generated_labels.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Flow Builder automatically generates element labels based on the properties that you configure.
