# Capture Recovery Costs with Repossession Item Cost and Cost Books

Track the full cost of recovering an asset. Add a Repossession Item Cost record, break the cost into line items, and get an auto-calculated total per repossession item.

Add a Repossession Item Cost record with a name, cost book, type, and status, then break the cost into line items — for example, a transport cost line against the standard cost book. The total cost is auto-calculated from the cost split, giving your team an itemized view of recovery expense per repossession item.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer editions with Automotive Cloud and the Collections and Recovery capability.

**Who:** Assign the Industries Repossession Management permission set to record recovery costs in the Repossession Console.

**How:** On the vehicle, select Add Repossession Item Cost, enter the cost header and cost book, add cost line items (name, type, cost-book entry, product, and cost), and save.
