# Check Your Encryption Key Status in Archive Settings

Archive Settings shows the status of the Shield Platform Encryption key that protects your archived data. The status can be Active, Encrypting, Decrypting, or Key Inactive. Monitor it so you can restore access quickly if the key becomes inactive.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions with the Salesforce Shield or Shield Platform Encryption add-on license in Hyperforce.

**Why:** See your key status at a glance, and during encryption or decryption, track a progress percentage that shows how far along the operation is.

**How:** In Archive Settings, go to Org Information and check your encryption key status. If the status is Key Inactive, restore access on the Key Management page in Setup. In the Rook Key Inventory section, click **Archive** and then click **Activate**.
