# API

Learn about improvements, new capabilities, and important announcements in API version 68.0.

- **[Get Notified About Composite API Requests with EventLogFile Event Types](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_api_composite_em.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Query the EventLogFile object for the CompositeApi and CompositeApiSubrequest event types to get details about composite API and composite graph API requests and subrequests.
- **[Other Improvements to Generating an OpenAPI Document for sObjects REST API (Beta)](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_api_rest_openapi_spec_beta.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
With the latest version of the OpenAPI specification, you can query for all available resources and use a wildcard character in URIs.
- **[Update Instanced URLs in API Traffic (Release Update)](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_update_instanced_urls_in_api_traffic.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
To prevent disruption when Salesforce ends support for API traffic that uses an incorrect instanced URL, make sure that API traffic to your org uses the org’s My Domain login URL. First available in Summer ’25, this release update was scheduled to be enforced in Spring ’26, but we postponed enforcement to a phased schedule that starts in October 2026 in sandboxes and January 2027 in production.
- **[Control Your Salesforce Edge Network Routing with Self-Serve Setup](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_control_edge_network_routing_with_self_serve.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
You can now manage your network routing with self-serve options available on the My Domain Setup page and maintain connection reliability without contacting Salesforce Customer Support each time.
- **[Streaming API Replay Tightening](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_streaming_api_replay_tightening.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Starting with API version 68.0, the Streaming API server emits a per-channel replay watermark in ext.replay on every successful /meta/connect response. Clients can use this watermark to update their replay ID on resubscription without waiting for events to be delivered—enabling faster syncing since older events no longer need to be reprocessed.
- **[Assign Use Any API Auth Permission for SOAP login() (Release Update)](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_api_soap_login.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
To authenticate with the SOAP API login() operation, all users must have the Use Any API Auth user permission assigned to them. Users without the Use Any API Auth user permission can no longer authenticate with SOAP API login() and will encounter an error. Beginning December 1, 2026, this requirement is enforced uniformly across all orgs and environments (production, pre-production sandboxes, etc.). You can run tests in advance using the Release Update in Setup.
- **[Simplify REST API Version Management](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_api_rest_latest.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
You can now use `latest` instead of a numbered version in a REST API URI. Your request is routed to the most recent REST API version that is supported by your org. This is indicated in the response of the List Available REST API Versions resource.
- **[Ingest Marketing Object and Consent Data at Scale with Bulk API 2.0](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_api_bulk_refresh.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Move large volumes of marketing data faster with new marketing objects for Bulk API 2.0. Marketing objects support the `insert` and `upsert` operations, plus a new `refresh` operation for marketing objects only. The `refresh` operation replaces all of the data in the target data set.
- **[SOAP API login() Call in SOAP API Versions 31.0 Through 64.0 Is Being Retired (Release Update)](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_api_soap_login_retirement.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
In Summer ‘27, the SOAP API `login()` call in SOAP API versions 31.0 through 64.0 will no longer be supported and no longer be available.
- **[Compare Values Between Fields in SOQL (Beta)](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_api_soql_where.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Perform arithmetic calculations directly in a SOQL `WHERE` clause with the `FORMULA()` function. Use this functionality to compare values between fields without adding a formula field or post-processing logic, and write more efficient and expressive queries.
- **[Salesforce Platform API Versions 31.0 Through 40.0 Are Being Retired](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_api_retirement.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Salesforce Platform API versions 31.0 through 40.0 are being deprecated and retired.
