# Optimize Schedules with Fatigue-Aware Rules (Beta)

Balance operational demand with worker well-being by configuring fatigue-aware scheduling rules and optimization objectives. Define limits on consecutive high-intensity work, specify activities that reset fatigue, and configure resource break rules to help reduce worker exhaustion while maintaining staffing coverage. Use fatigue rules as hard constraints that prevent scheduling violations or as optimization objectives that allow the scheduler to favor healthier schedules while balancing operational requirements.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions. Workforce Management is available for an additional cost as an add-on license.

_Schedule Optimization_ _is a pilot or beta service that is subject to the Beta Services Terms at_ [_Agreements - Salesforce.com_](https://www.salesforce.com/company/legal/agreements/) _or a written Unified Pilot Agreement if executed by Customer, and applicable terms in the_ [_Product Terms Directory_](https://ptd.salesforce.com/)_. Use of this pilot or beta service is at the Customer's sole discretion._

**Who:** Users with the Workforce Engagement Planner permission set can configure fatigue-aware scheduling rules and optimize schedules.

**How:** In Workforce Management Setup, select **Scheduling Rules**, and create resource break and fatigue-related rules. Configure the rules and use schedule optimization to generate schedules.
