Bring Salesforce Organizational Hierarchies into Tableau Next (Beta)

Build Tableau Next visualizations, dashboards, and metrics that recognize your Salesforce organization's reporting structure. When you create a Hierarchy Logical View in your semantic model based on your Salesforce organizational hierarchy, you can group and filter data, drill down and roll up through reporting levels, and use the hierarchy across dashboards and metric detail pages. Create hierarchy views from manager hierarchies to track team performance, role hierarchies to analyze metrics across sales roles, or territory hierarchies to monitor sales targets by territory.

Where: This change applies to Tableau Next in Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions.

Note
Note This feature is a pilot or beta service that is subject to the Beta Services Terms at Agreements - Salesforce.com or a written Unified Pilot Agreement if executed by Customer, and applicable terms in the Product Terms Directory. Use of this pilot or beta service is at the Customer’s sole discretion.

Why: For example, create a sales visualization that rolls up sales across a manager hierarchy and drills down through each level of the reporting structure. In the dashboard, users can switch between Me, My Team, and Org views, and use the manager hierarchy to filter the visualization. The same manager hierarchy is also available on the metric detail page to filter related metrics.

How: To use an organizational hierarchy in a visualization, drag a hierarchy field from the Data pane onto the visualization to group, filter, drill down, and roll up data. To use an organizational hierarchy in a dashboard or metric, add the hierarchy as a filter.
