Answer hierarchy-based analytics questions like "What's my team's revenue?" by adding Role or Manager hierarchies to your semantic models. With one semantic model definition, your org can use organizational hierarchy capabilities across metrics, dashboards, and visualizations including My Team filtering, drill-down navigation, and data roll-up.
Where: This change applies to Data 360 in Enterprise and Unlimited editions where Tableau Semantics is enabled.
When: This change is available starting in August 2026.
Why: In sales and business operations, everyone needs to see data through their organizational lens: a sales rep wants personal numbers, a manager wants team performance, and an executive wants company-wide rollups. Previously, answering "What's my team's revenue?" required manual aggregation or separate metric definitions for each organizational level. With organizational hierarchies, users can filter a single metric definition by team or role.
How: Before you add a hierarchy, enable this feature and ingest at least one hierarchy (Role or Manager) into Data 360. To use it, enable Org Hierarchies in any of these locations:
- Data Cloud Setup > Feature Manager
- Data Cloud Setup > Tableau Next Features
- Tableau Next workspace settings
Open a semantic model in Tableau Semantics and add an organizational hierarchy by clicking New > Organizational Hierarchy. Choose Role or Manager hierarchy from your Salesforce org. Tableau Semantics auto-generates hierarchy fields (User Hierarchy, Role Hierarchy, and Level) and makes them available as filter dimensions in metrics. Your users can then apply My Team filters to scope metrics by team.
