Get trusted, accurate answers and create intelligent, proactive intelligence briefings with Tableau Next and Slackbot, powered by the Tableau Next Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server and the analyze_data tool. When you set up the Tableau Next MCP server connection in Slack, you can ask Slackbot questions about your data and be confident that the answers you get back are grounded in your Tableau Next semantics and business logic. The analyze_data capability enables conversational analytics and reasoning that provides consistent, accurate answers. For example, ask Slackbot to create a Slackbot skill to pull insights from your data, so you can ask follow-up questions and take action with Slackbot such as sending Slack messages, creating Slack canvases, or taking action with Salesforce or other connected tools.
Where: This change applies to Tableau Next in Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions.
How: After your Salesforce and Slack admins have enabled the Tableau Next MCP connection, open a conversation with Slackbot. Select the apps icon (plug icon), and confirm that the Tableau Next MCP toggle is on. Then, ask Slackbot a question about your data.
