General Availability of Building Hybrid Reasoning Agents That Use Agent Script
In February 2026, we announced the general availability of using Agentforce DX to build hybrid reasoning Salesforce agents that use Agent Script. These new types of agents have both the predictability that your business demands and the creativity that large language models (LLMs) make possible. Agentforce DX helps pro-code developers build these agents by minimizing context switching, enabling professional DevOps, and simplifying collaboration between low-code and pro-code developers.
We also updated the Build an Agent Using Agentforce DX Trailhead badge to use Agent Script. It now includes a sample agent to help you quickly learn all about Agentforce DX.
Use Skills to Vibe Code Agents
Salesforce provides a set of skills to help you vibe code your Agent Script file in Agentforce Vibes. You can also use the skills with other AI coding assistants, such as Claude Code or Cursor. Skills are modular instruction sets that extend the coding assistant's capabilities for specific tasks. Each skill packages detailed guidance, workflows, and optional resources that the assistants load only when relevant to your request. Skills load on-demand so they don't consume context when you work on unrelated tasks.
Here are the Agentforce-specific skills:
- Agentforce Development Skill: Skills for building, modifying, debugging, and deploying Agentforce agents using Agent Script.
- Agentforce Testing Skill: Provides comprehensive testing capabilities for Agentforce agents. The skill includes automated utterance derivation from agent subagents, preview-based smoke testing, trace analysis, and an iterative fix loop for identified issues.
- Agentforce Observability Skill: Improves Agentforce agents using session trace data and live preview testing.
Programmatically Preview an Agent
Preview an agent programmatically, without starting an interactive session, with these four new CLI commands. This feature is useful when you want an agent to test your agent.
agent preview start: Start a programmatic agent preview session.agent preview send: Send a message to an existing agent preview session.agent preview sessions: List all known programmatic agent preview sessions.agent preview end: End an existing programmatic agent preview session and get the trace location.
Generate a DX Project with a Sample Agent
Use the new agent template when you run template generate project to create a DX project that contains a sample agent called Local Info Agent. The DX project also contains a scratch org definition file that contains the features and settings to create an Agentforce-ready scratch org. For example:
sf template generate project --name agent-project --template agent
Agentforce DX VS Code Extension Now Included in Salesforce Extension Pack
The Salesforce VS Code Extension Pack now includes the Agentforce DX extension. The Salesforce Extension Pack includes tools for developing on the Salesforce Platform. Use these tools to vibe code Salesforce apps and agents, and work with development orgs, Apex, Lightning Web Components, and SOQL.
Install the Extension Pack from either the VS Code Marketplace or the Open VSX Registry.
Easily Create an Agent User
Easily create the default Salesforce user that runs an agent in your org with the new
org create agent-user CLI command. You specify this user in the agent's
Agent Script file using the default_agent_user parameter in the config block.
This example creates an agent user with an auto-generated username and custom name
Service Agent in the org with alias my-org.
sf org create agent-user --first-name Service --last-name Agent --target-org my-org
Other New Agentforce DX Features
- Open your org in Agentforce Studio, specifically in the list view that displays all your agents, with the new
org open authoring-bundleCLI command. - Activate a specific version of an agent with the new
--versionflag of theactivate agentCLI command. In VS Code, you're now prompted for a version when you run AFDX: Activate Agent. - Skip retrieving agent metadata to your DX project when publishing an authoring bundle to your
org with the new
--skip-retrieveflag of theagent publish authoring-bundleCLI command. In VS Code, enable the Agentforce DX: Skip Retrieve setting. "
