# Get Faster Design Guidance with SLDS MCP Tools (Beta)

Speed up your UI development with instant Salesforce Lightning Design System (SLDS) styling hook and component blueprint guidance.

**Where:** SLDS Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools are available in the latest version of the Salesforce DX MCP Server (beta).

Note Salesforce DX MCP Server is a pilot or beta service that is subject to the Beta Services Terms at Agreements - Salesforce.com or a written Unified Pilot Agreement if executed by Customer, and applicable terms in the Product Terms Directory. Use of this pilot or beta service is at the Customer's sole discretion.

**Why:** Use SLDS-focused MCP tools to discover styling hook definitions and use cases, explore styling hook categories, retrieve blueprint specifications by component name, and more. These tools provide the information needed to build accessible, brand-aligned Lightning components.

- `guide_slds_blueprints:` Access comprehensive SLDS component blueprint guidelines, reference documentation, and a complete index of all available blueprints organized by category.
- `explore_slds_blueprints:` Retrieve SLDS component blueprint specifications by name, category, Lightning base component, CSS class, or styling hook.
- `guide_slds_styling:` Get comprehensive SLDS styling hook guidelines, reference documentation, and a complete overview of available styling hooks by category.
- `explore_slds_styling:` Get usage patterns, accessibility notes, and validation checklists for semantic color hooks. For all other styling hooks, the tool provides the category, description, optional usage, and additional properties.

**How:** To access the new SLDS MCP tools, configure the Salesforce DX MCP Server to specify the `lwc-experts` toolset with the `--toolsets` flag. Because the tools aren’t Generally Available (non-GA), also include the `--allow-non-ga-tools` flag in your configuration.
