# Update Organization-Wide Defaults Quicker and More Reliably

To process changes to organization-wide defaults faster, related criteria-based sharing rules are now recalculated in parallel rather than sequentially. This improvement is most noticeable if you have many sharing rules. You can monitor the progress of the recalculation on the Background Jobs page.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic in Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, Developer, and Database.com editions.
