# Scan Encrypted Fields for Sensitive Data in Data Detect

Now, you can broaden your data privacy reach by scanning encrypted text-based fields. Data Detect supports scanning for Text, Long Text Area, Rich Text Area, Text Area fields, and text (encrypted) with Field Level Encryption or Classic Encryption. Scanning encrypted fields does take longer. If you include encrypted fields in your scan, your total scan time can increase by approximately one and a half times.

### Required Editions

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience (not available in all orgs) in Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer editions with the Salesforce Shield or Data Detect Licenses.

**Who:** To view results from scans that include fields with Classic encryption, you need the **View Encrypted Data** permission.
