# Increased Record Limit for Encryption Sync

You can now run self-service background encryption on objects containing up to 40 million records. The larger limit threshold means that you can expect fewer delays when syncing data to your active key.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions with the Salesforce Shield or Shield Platform Encryption add-on license.
