# Stop Running Data Scans

Immediately halt a running data scan rather than waiting for it to finish. Stop processes triggered by error or shift priorities without generating unwanted results.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience (not available in all orgs) in Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer editions with the Salesforce Shield or Data Detect Licenses.

**How:** From the scan’s policy page, click **Stop Scan**.
