# Select Your Backup Storage Region for Data Residency Compliance

Choose the region where your Backup & Recover data is stored during onboarding to meet regulatory requirements and align with your disaster recovery strategy. You select your preferred region from a list of available regions, and all backup data for your org is stored in that location. Once you select a region, you can't change it.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

**When:** This functionality is available starting in August 2026.

**How:** When you first open Backup & Recover Next, select **Select Region** and choose your region. Once activation completes, you can configure your backup settings.
