# Backup and Recover Next

Gain more control over backup operations, with the ability to start and stop backups on demand.

- **[Back Up and Recover Data in India (Generally Available)](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_security_bar_india.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Back up and recover your Salesforce data in India. When you activate automatic backups in India, Salesforce provisions the backups in the India region.
- **[Back Up and Recover Data in US East and West](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_security_bar_amer.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Protect your Salesforce data with regional options in the United States. Backup & Recover Next now includes US East and US West regions, expanding beyond Japan, India, and GovCloud regions. These regions give you more geographic options to store your backup data and meet regulatory requirements.
- **[Back Up Data on Demand](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_security_bar_on_demand.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Initiate a manual backup at any time instead of relying only on scheduled operations. This capability allows you to protect your data immediately before performing system maintenance or after a failed automated run. Run on-demand backups up to three times a day to provide an extra layer of security for critical data before planned updates.
- **[Cancel Backups in Progress](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_security_bar_cancel_backup.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Stop a backup while it’s running to address production data errors or modify backup options.
- **[Pause Scheduled Backups](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_security_bar_pause_backups.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Temporarily stop scheduled backups on demand and restart them when you’re ready. While scheduled backups are inactive, on-demand backups and other app features remain available.
- **[Run Backups Multiple Times a Day](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_security_bar_frequent_backups.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Protect your organization's data with more frequent backups in Backup & Recover Next. Choose how often to automatically run your backups in a day, up to every hour. These backups use a new dedicated retention tier with a default of 14 days (configurable from 1 to 30 days).
- **[Retry Failed Restore Attempts](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_security_bar_retry_restore.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Recover data more effectively by retrying restore attempts that didn't complete successfully. This feature provides a direct way to address restoration errors without starting the entire process over.
- **[Restore Specific Fields with Field-Level Recovery](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_security_bar_restore_fields.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Select which object fields to restore from a backup to avoid overwriting valid changes in unselected fields. This control ensures that the restore process updates only necessary data on target records.
- **[Restore Records with Hierarchical Relationships](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_security_bar_restore_children.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Recover parent records and their related child records in a single, dependency-aware operation to maintain data consistency and reduce recovery time. This capability identifies deleted relationships and uses an interactive tree visualization to help you select specific deleted records for recovery. By maintaining referential integrity, save time and ensure data consistency. This approach reduces Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) by automating the discovery and restoration of child records. This capability ensures that you don’t lose the relationships between the parent and child objects to accurately return data to its previous state.
- **[Restore Files and Attachments from Backups](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_security_bar_restore_files.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Include files and attachments during data restoration for a more comprehensive recovery of your records. This feature ensures that restored records include all associated information and external references.
- **[Encrypt Backup Data with Tenant-Specific Keys](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_security_bar_platform_encryption_integration.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Protect your at-rest backup data and meet compliance requirements by using dedicated, tenant-specific root keys with Shield Platform Encryption. Create a key with Shield Platform Encryption, or bring your own root key.
- **[Select Your Backup Storage Region for Data Residency Compliance](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_security_bar_select_region.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Choose the region where your Backup & Recover data is stored during onboarding to meet regulatory requirements and align with your disaster recovery strategy. You select your preferred region from a list of available regions, and all backup data for your org is stored in that location. Once you select a region, you can't change it.
- **[Manage Backup and Recover Next with REST APIs](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_security_bar_api_integration.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Integrate Backup and Recover Next into your processes by using REST API endpoints. Run, cancel, and configure backups, view compare and restore activities, compare backup data, and retrieve audit event logs directly from custom apps.
- **[Automate Backup and Recover Operations Through the MCP Server](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_security_bar_mcp_support.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Automate and integrate Salesforce backup and recover operations into your AI workflows with the Backup & Recover MCP server. Use natural language commands to programmatically monitor backup history, run on-demand backups, configure backup settings, and compare snapshots. Select specific records to restore and track all activities through audit events.
