Create More Flexible Engagement Agents with the New AgentForce Builder

A new version of Agentforce Builder is now available in the Agentforce Studio app in Salesforce. In the Agentforce Builder found in Setup, the New Agent button was removed on July 13, 2026.

Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions with Sales Cloud and the Agentforce Engagement add-on. Setup for agents is available on the desktop site.

When: This change is available beginning August 24, 2026.

Why: The new Agentforce Builder based on Agent Script provides significantly more flexibility in agent configuration and finer control of agent behavior. Custom business rules and other guardrails are much easier to implement with Agent Script.

How: The guided setup in Salesforce Go is still the primary location for all Engagement agent admin tasks, including:

  • Creating and activating new Engagement agents.
  • Configuring agent instructions, outreach settings, and guardrails.
  • Building and editing agent versions.

In Salesforce Go, you can create agents with the new Engagement agent template or the older Engagement (Legacy) agent template.

Agents with the new Engagement agent template are based on Agent Script. These agents can be customized in the new Agentforce Builder found within the Agentforce Studio app.

For newer agents built on the Agent Script-based Engagement agent template, some settings have moved.

  • Send as Seller and Require Manual Approval now appear in the Cadence Settings section of the agent details after agent creation. Previously these settings were included in the guided agent configuration in Salesforce Go. These settings apply to all new agents created from the newer template.
  • Agent Working Hours are now set in the Cadence Settings section of the agent details.
  • To test Agent Script-based agents, go to the Agentforce Studio app and then click the Tests tab.

Agents created with the Engagement (Legacy) agent template (formerly Lead Nurturing) are based on modular subagents, actions, and prompt templates. For deeper customizations, these agents can be edited in the older Agentforce Builder found in Setup.
