# Improve Checkout Flow with Reliable Card on File Payments

Keep your checkout lines moving by giving store associates instant access to customers' stored payment methods, including during multitender sales. When an associate selects a customer profile with a saved credit card, the POS retrieves the card information via tokens from the profile to facilitate secure transactions through your Adyen terminal. This updated framework mitigates previous scenarios that disabled card on file transactions. Guest checkout still requires a physical card. During the point of sale flow, confirm the shopper’s identity before payment.

**Where:** This change applies to Point of Sale.

**How:** Set up the POS Clienteling SPI and include payment tokens in the request payloads for all endpoints. At the point of sale, select the Card tender type and search for an existing customer. Select **Saved Card on File** as the card method and then select a card.
