# Optimize Implementation Consistency with Data Mapper Versioning

Manage different versions of your Data Mappers by enabling versioning. It activates existing standard Data Mappers as version 1 and locks active components to maintain consistency across your implementations. You can create new versions to make changes rather than editing active components, keeping Data Mappers consistent with other Omnistudio components. By default, Data Mapper versioning is disabled.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions where Omnistudio is enabled.

**Who:** This feature is available to Omnistudio customers who use the standard runtime and standard designer.

**How:** From Setup, in the Quick Find box, find and select **Omnistudio Settings**. Turn on **Omnistudio Metadata**, and then check your email for a success confirmation. After the metadata support is active, turn on **Data Mapper Versioning** from the same page. You can turn off **Data Mapper Versioning** at any time.
