# Define Eligible Activities to Extend Activity-Based Points Validity

Specify the eligible activities that extend the point validity of activity-based, redeemable currencies by using journal types and subtypes. For example, extend members’ activity dates when there are transactions only with the Accrual type and the Purchase subtype. The Data Processing Engine definition, Identify and Update Activity Dates for Loyalty Program Members, uses these records to calculate and update members' point expiration dates.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions with Loyalty Management.

**How:** Clone the Data Processing Engine definition, Identify and Update Activity Dates for Loyalty Program Members, and then schedule it to run periodically. Then, on the Loyalty Program page, use the Eligible Journal Types for Activity-Based Expiration related list to define the qualifying activities.
