# Control Partitioned SID Cookies for the Lightning Domain in Session Settings

Keep embedded Lightning experiences working as browsers limit third-party cookies. Cookies Having Independent Partitioned State (CHIPS) is a browser standard that isolates cookies per embedding site instead of blocking them outright, so each external site that embeds your Salesforce components maintains its own independent session. A new org preference applies CHIPS partitioning to the Lightning domain session ID so that cross-site embeds maintain valid sessions. Enable the preference in Session Settings to reduce session breakage for Lightning Out 2.0 and other Lightning-domain embeds.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Group, Essentials, Starter Suite, Pro Suite, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

**Who:** Users who can change Session Settings in Setup (commonly through Customize Application or equivalent permission) manage the preference after the checkbox is visible in your org.

**Why:** When Lightning Out 2.0 components load in an iframe on an external site, browsers treat the Salesforce session (SID) cookie as a third-party cookie. Major browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, and Safari, are phasing out third-party cookies, which causes embedded components to lose authentication and fail to render. CHIPS partitioning tells the browser to scope the SID cookie to each embedding site rather than blocking it, so your embedded experiences continue to work without cross-site cookie sharing. Enable this preference now to stay ahead of tightening browser policies.

**How:** From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Session, and then select **Session Settings**. Find the partitioned SID cookie control for the Lightning domain when your org shows it, choose whether to enable partitioning, and retest Lightning Out 2.0 and other Lightning-domain embeds in supported browsers.
