# Discover Installed Software on MacOS Devices

Discover installed software on MacOS devices to improve asset visibility and support security audits and license checks. Use agentless and agent-based discovery methods to collect software details such as name, version, install date, install location, and publisher. Bring MacOS software inventory into CMDB alongside Windows and Linux data for more complete reporting.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Unlimited, Enterprise, and Performance Editions with Agentforce IT Service where Asset Discovery is enabled.

**Who:** To configure and run discovery scans, users must have the IT Service Asset Discovery permission set.

**Why:** MacOS software discovery brings parity with Windows and Linux discovery and improves visibility across mixed-device environments.

**How:** From the Salesforce CMDB & Service Graph app, configure a discovery target for MacOS devices and run agentless or agent-based discovery. Review discovered software records in CMDB to analyze installed applications and versions.
