# Align Assets and Configuration Items with Bidirectional Field Synchronization

Keep your IT Asset Management (ITAM) and Configuration Management Database (CMDB) records perfectly aligned with event-driven, bidirectional synchronization at the field level. Define field mappings, establish a source of truth, and configure field value translations to resolve data conflicts between systems. These synchronization capabilities eliminate manual data entry, reduce data drift, and provide your IT fulfillers with accurate data.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions with Agentforce IT Service.

**Why:** Bridge the gap between financial asset tracking and operational reality. Field synchronization automates alignment between ITAM and CMDB to break down data silos and improve decision-making. To ensure data integrity, the system manages data conflicts in the background without interrupting service.

**How:** To define field synchronization rules, go to the **Asset and CI Sync** settings page in the CMDB and Service Graph app. Use Asset to CI Field Mapping to select mapped fields, designate a source of truth, and establish specific value translations.
