Identify where your prompt templates are used so you can understand the impact of your changes before you make them. When you attempt to delete a prompt template, a references modal displays a list of flows, agents, Apex invocable actions, and other integrations that currently use that template.
Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions with Foundations and the Agentforce for Sales or Service add-on, or included in Agentforce 1 Editions. Generative AI is available in Lightning Experience.
When: This feature is available starting the week of June 8, 2026.
Why: Template References adds guardrails to protect your dependent resources and prevent breaking downstream integrations. You can identify dependencies before deleting or updating a template and better understand how widely templates are used across your org.
How: When you modify or attempt to delete a prompt template, use the references view to evaluate the impact of your changes. To protect your integrations, you can't delete a template version that's in use, and you can't change the response format of an active template if it has existing references. To update a response format, first remove or update the existing references. Keep in mind that different template versions can have different reference counts, and changes to a referenced template apply to all dependent components.
