# Customize Managed Prompt Templates with Overrides

Customize prompt templates delivered through managed packages by creating your own versions. When a template is configured as overridable, create and activate local versions of the template without modifying the original packaged template.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions with Einstein for Platform, or Einstein or Agentforce for Sales or Service add-on, or Agentforce Foundations.

**When:** This feature is available starting the week of May 5, 2026.

**Why:** Previously, prompt templates delivered through managed packages were immutable. Subscribers could only clone templates to create independent copies, which disconnected them from publisher updates. Overridable templates allow subscribers to customize prompt behavior while preserving the publisher’s ability to deliver upgrades and maintain control of packaged components.

**How:** Publishers configure a prompt template as overridable before packaging it. After installation in a subscriber org, users can open the managed template in Prompt Builder and create a new version to override the packaged version. If the override version is activated, it becomes the active template for that org while the publisher’s versions remain available through package upgrades.
