# Development

Whether you’re using Lightning components, Visualforce, Apex, or Salesforce APIs with your favorite programming language, these enhancements help you develop amazing applications, integrations, and packages for resale to other organizations.

- **[Lightning Components](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_lc.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Local Dev is now called Live Preview. Single Component Live Preview and the Live Preview Visual Studio Code extension for Lightning web components are generally available. Use state managers to centralize and decouple data logic from component presentation. Review new and updated distortions in the Lightning Web Security Distortion Viewer. Preview and test features with Salesforce Release Manager, which is in beta. Update your Lightning Web Components API version to 67.0.
- **[Lightning Types](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_lt.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
With Lightning Types, you can define the data structures that drive custom components and structure Agentforce responses. Use these types to customize user interfaces in Agentforce and other supported Salesforce applications for consistent, platform-wide interactions.
- **[Lightning Design System](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_slds.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
The Salesforce Lightning Design System (SLDS) includes the resources to create user interfaces consistent with Salesforce Lightning principles, design language, and best practices.
- **[Apex](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_apex.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Database operations now run in user mode by default, not system mode. Further, database operations enforce the current user’s object-, field-, and record-level security settings by default. SOQL queries no longer support the `WITH SECURITY_ENFORCED` clause. Write integration Apex tests that can make callouts to Agentforce and Data 360. Enqueue Queueable and future method jobs up to a new elastic limit. Prepare for the Block Apex Anonymous Code Execution from Managed Packages release update. Declare multiline strings and use an improved string interpolation method.
- **[API](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_api.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Learn about improvements, new capabilities, and important announcements in API version 67.0.
- **[Packaging](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_packaging.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Packaging facilitates the development and distribution of business apps. Use second-generation managed packages to create apps to sell and distribute on AppExchange. Use unlocked packages to develop internal business apps.
- **[Development Environments](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_dev_environments.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Development environments are full-featured Salesforce environments that you use to develop and test existing or new features and custom applications. They include Developer Edition orgs, sandboxes, and scratch orgs.
- **[Platform Development Tools](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_tools.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Build applications collaboratively and deliver continuously with Salesforce Developer Experience (DX), the open and integrated experience for custom app development on Salesforce.
- **[React Apps](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_react.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
With Salesforce Multi-Framework, you can build and reuse React apps directly from your Salesforce org.
- **[Salesforce Functions](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_functions.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Salesforce Functions is no longer available for purchase or renewal. Learn about the retirement plan for Salesforce Functions.
- **[AgentExchange Partners](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_appexchange_partners.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Update security controls in Connected Apps and ECAs before May 11th, 2026. Explore the new AgentExchange, a marketplace unifying AppExchange, AgentExchange, and Slack Marketplace.
- **[Change Data Capture](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_messaging_change_data_capture_section.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Receive change events for more objects.
- **[New and Changed Items for Developers](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_development_new_changed.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
