# Business Rules Engine

Process multiple outcomes from a single decision table lookup within context-aware expression sets. Manage CSV-based rule versions and resolve conflicts using custom activation ranks. Track rule executions against context service records for enhanced Decision Explainability. Package BRE components seamlessly using second-generation managed packages (2GP). Scale complex operations with increased decision table limits.

- **[Enhance Control and Compliance with Decision Table Versioning](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_bre_csv_decision_table_versions.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Maintain full control over your business rules and simplify compliance with versioning for CSV–based decision tables. Create new versions to test changes safely without affecting active rules. For streamlined deployment, activate specific versions with a custom rank to manage conflicts when multiple versions are active.
- **[Improved Scalability in Business Rules Engine](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_bre_guardrails.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Experience improved scalability with improved limits on CSV-based decision tables.
- **[Improved Transparency in Decision Explanations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_bre_decision_explainer_tracks_executions_against_context_record.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Decision Explainer now tracks all Business Rules Engine executions against a context service record. View improved explanations by tracking the specific Business Rules Engine execution for each decision.
- **[Improve Agility with Local List Variables in Expression Sets](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_bre_local_list_variables_with_context_expression_set.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Create local list variables directly within the Expression Set builder to store interim values for the calculation, from a context definition, instead of modifying the context definition. Local list variables are hierarchical resources, while variables and constants are flat resources. These variables are scoped to a specific expression set version and exist only during execution, keeping your global context definitions clean.
- **[Migrate Business Rules Engine with 2GP](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_bre_2gp_support.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Business Rules Engine components are now packageable in the second-generation managed packages (2GP).
- **[New Objects in Business Rules Engine](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_bre_new_changed_objects.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Do more with this new Business Rules Engine object.
- **[Changed Invocable Actions in Business Rules Engine](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_bre_new_changed_invocable_actions.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Do more with this changed Business Rules Engine invocable action.
- **[Use Date Data Type in Advanced CSV-Based Decision Tables](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_bre_date_type.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Advanced CSV-based decision tables now support the Date data type, so you can define input and output columns that match date values directly, without time components. Previously, CSV-based decision tables supported DateTime but not Date as a standalone data type. Teams that needed to evaluate or return date-only values had to use DateTime as a workaround. Now you can define Date columns directly, keeping your decision table data clean and aligned with date-only fields in your org.
- **[Call Decision Tables from Omnistudio Integration Procedures](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_bre_omnistudio_decision_table_action.htm&release=262.0.0&type=5)**
Connect decision tables to Omnistudio without custom code or manual workarounds. With a new enhanced action, rule designers can run decision tables directly from Integration Procedures, map transaction data to the inputs, and merge the results into the data flow. Decision tables join decision matrices as supported Business Rules Engine lookup tables in Omnistudio, giving you no-code integration for both.
