Accessibility Enhancements in Analytics

Learn about small but important changes that make analytics more accessible.

Where: Lightning Report and Dashboard changes apply to Lightning Experience in Group, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions. CRM Analytics changes apply to CRM Analytics in Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic. CRM Analytics is available in Developer Edition and for an extra cost in Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions.

How: Check out details about these changes for Lightning reports and dashboards.

  • Screen readers announce the unique name, role, and state of each checkbox in the Add Bucket Column window grid to distinguish between individual selections and the Select All Rows option.
  • Filters such as Show Me, Date, Range, and Operator, are designated as Select-Only Comboboxes so that screen readers announce their roles, states, and selected values accurately.
  • Screen readers announce the appearance and value updates of the dynamically generated Drill Down button when users select a row's checkbox in a grouped row report.
  • TalkBack screen reader focus moves into the individual Dashboards screen on Android devices.
  • Keyboard users can tab through all buttons, including Reset Role to Top Level, Cancel, and Done, within the role hierarchy filter widget.
  • Focus is contained within the Filter by Date window boundary when you select Customize.
  • Pressing Shift+Tab from the Next Widget button in an expanded dashboard widget window moves the focus to the previous focusable element.
  • Table data cells on the Report page are associated with their corresponding table headers so that screen readers announce the header along with the cell content.
  • The Select Folder window for Email Templates programmatically conveys the hierarchical parent-child relationships between folders, rather than presenting them as independent data tables.
  • Screen readers announce error messages for invalid date or time formats in the filter dialog, and the input fields communicate their invalid state.
  • The dashboard refresh status message uses an ARIA live region with a valid role attribute to programmatically convey the update to screen reader users.
  • Text in the Fields panel of the report editor meets the minimum color contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against the background to improve readability for low-vision users.
  • Focus indicators in charts use a pattern in addition to color for better visibility for low-vision users navigating with arrow keys.
  • Dashboard text indicating that a chart can't be drawn doesn't truncate when the page is zoomed to 200%.
