# Refine Duplicate Prevention for Shopper Profile Sync

Configure three matching rules and three corresponding duplicate rules to prevent duplicate person accounts when Shopper Profile Sync creates or updates shopper records. The updated three-rule model replaces the previous single matching rule and standard duplicate rule, which didn't cleanly distinguish guest records from registered records or let a newly registered shopper claim a prior guest account.

**Where:** This change applies to Salesforce orgs connected to B2C Commerce through Shopper Profile Sync.

**How:** In your connected Salesforce org, from Setup, create the Registered Shopper, Guest Shopper, and Registered Claims Guest matching rules, and then create the three corresponding duplicate rules.
